The Penn Wynne Civic Association and Lower Merion Township have chosen to dedicate the new pavilion in Wynnewood Valley Park to David Morely Barrett (1979-2020), 2015 founder of Friends of Wynnewood Valley Park. Mr. Barrett worked tirelessly to restore native plant growth in our park in order to attract native birds and other wildlife. He rallied students, scouts, neighbors, fellow realtors, the Penn Wynne Civic Association, and Lower Merion Township, to work with him towards his lofty goal. He sold native plants at Earth Day events in order to raise funds for park plantings, and often worked in the park on his own and with his daughters to tame invasive plants between volunteer days. His mission lives on through Friends of Wynnewood Valley Park, the scouts, and his family. We owe him a debt of gratitude for his valuable contributions to our park and our community.
