Independence Day Celebration

Please join us for PWCA's 81st annual Independence Day Parade and Carnival!

Parade

The parade will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, July 4th outside of the Penn Wynne-Overbrook Firehouse. Local children and families are welcome to participate, whether it be walking, biking, scooting, or riding in a wagon or stroller. Patriotic decorations are encouraged!  If you wish to participate in the parade, please arrive by 9:45 a.m. to start lining up.

Carnival

Following the end of the parade, there will be a carnival at Penn Wynne Park (214 E. Manoa Road) from 10:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m.  The carnival will feature music, cotton candy, bounce houses, and various games for which children can earn tickets to exchange for small prizes.  Pizza, including a kosher option, and ice pops will also be available for sale.

Wristbands cost $10 each and must be purchased for all children who participate in the carnival activities.  Every family that has paid its PWCA Annual Household Dues ($20), gets two "free" wristbands for the carnival.  We strongly recommend paying your dues and becoming official members of PWCA in advance of July 4th.  This helps support PWCA activities year-round and ensures you receive all PWCA communications.  Dues can easily be paid online.

Families that have not paid PWCA dues may still purchase wristbands in advance on July 3rd from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. outside of the the Penn Wynne-Overbrook Firehouse and immediately before the start of the parade.  Wristbands will also be on sale at Penn Wynne Park during the carnival, but keep in mind there can be lines to do so.  Please bring cash when purchasing wristbands in person! Cell service to use Venmo in the park can be spotty.

Volunteering

Community events like this one are impossible with the help of many volunteers!  If you are able and interested in assisting for this event, please sign up for a volunteer position.  There are numerous volunteer opportunities throughout the day.

The rain date for this event is Sunday, July 7th and PWCA will release additional information if the original event must be postponed due to weather.
